Reception at the MUZEO Museum and Cultural Center

You are invited to join us for a reception at the MUZEO Museum and Cultural Center on Thursday, July 7 @5:30p-7pm, to showcase the Same Game, Different Smokers to the public. The groundbreaking exhibit is an exploration of the troubling relationship the tobacco industry has had with the Black Community over the last 400+ years.

A collection of archival ads and images are brought together to answer some extremely important questions. We interrogate the complex connection between increased demand for commercialized tobacco, the transatlantic slave trade, racialized advertising, targeted ad placement, and the fact that approximately 47,000 African Americans die every year from tobacco-related illness.

The exhibit consists of over 30 panels and is accompanied by a K-12 curriculum that supports teachers in preparing their classes to visit the exhibit and allows young viewers to connect with the information in various ways.

Same Game, Different Smokers is curated by Tracy Brown, an Independent Curator, Artivist (Artist Activist), and sponsored by the African American Tobacco Control Leadership Council (AATCLC).

We are hosting an intimate reception and want you to be one of the first to see the exhibit on display first. Come to meet the curator and the sponsor.

The G.R.E.E.N Foundation is excited to support this event and to invite you and a guest to the reception. RSVP by July 5th.
